Welcome to Saraf Medical Practice

****** Important Notice for all our registered patients ******

As you are most likely already aware Dr Saraf will be retiring on the 30th June 2022 and unfortunately the practice will be closing.

Moorside Medical Centre will remain open for patients registered with Dr Kaur at Moorside Medical Practice.

We urge that if not already done so patients register with an alternative GP for their medical care as stated in the letter received, at the earliest opportunity.

Dr Saraf has been a GP in Oldham for over 35 years, 15 years of which have been at Moorside, and the decision to close the practice has not been an easy one and we hope that you can respect his decision

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our patients and families for their continued support along with our dedicated practice team and we wish him a happy and healthy retirement

Sharon,

Practice Manager at Saraf Medical Practice

Afternoon surgery on Wednesday 22nd December On the afternoon of Wednesday 22 December, all of Oldham’s GP practices will be operating differently in support of the accelerated Covid-19 booster programme. Practices are being supported by GTD Healthcare (GoToDoc) at this time. This means practice phone lines will be diverting to GTD Healthcare as they do for the Out of Hours Service. GTD staff are able to help you with most urgent medical problems during this time, to speak to them you should phone the normal practice number. This will help free up the practice to spend the afternoon focusing on vaccinating as many our patients as possible. The practice remains open during this time, if you need usfor matters that can’t be dealt with by GTD and can’t wait, please come in as usual and we will be pleased to help. Thank you for your understanding

About Saraf Medical Practice

We are a GP training practice and will have a GP registrar working at the practice on a six months or yearly basis.

GP registrars are fully qualified hospital doctors undergoing their GP training.

The surgery operates from the first of the LIFT Buildings to be built in Oldham, a building designed for service delivery to the local community in the 21st century, offering a new style of delivering services to patients across the Oldham Borough. It is fully accessible for all patients.
New service delivery also means a new way of working for staff, and patients will notice that a receptionist for the practice will not always be available to check them in when they have an appointment to see the doctor or nurse. A patient self check-in has been installed for patient use, reducing patients' waiting time when checking in for an appointment and freeing the receptionist to attend to other duties.

Patients can access the building by the front or rear. The car park is at the rear of the building.

    Public Notice Regarding Hospital Appointments

Pausing Elective Care in Greater Manchester (4/1/22) Hospitals in Greater Manchester have made the difficult decision to pause some non-urgent surgery and appointments due to the rising impact of COVID-19. Patients who will be affected by this will be contacted by the hospital as soon as possible. If you are not contacted by the hospital, please assume your treatment is continuing as planned. There is no need to contact the hospital or your GP practice for this information. We understand how disappointing this will be for patients who have appointments or procedures affected, especially those who have already waited for some time, and we know people will be worried. This is a temporary measure, and the aim is to impact the fewest number of patients. The situation will be reviewed on a regular basis so that procedures can resume as soon as possible. Urgent treatments and cancer operations will continue to be prioritised and hospitals will continue to work together across Greater Manchester to care for patients so that everyone who needs urgent care and treatment, gets it. Anyone waiting for treatment can find advice and support on the Greater Manchester While You Wait website (whileyouwait.org.uk). Here you will find information and advice on how to manage your physical and mental wellbeing while you wait. This is a difficult decision and one that has not been taken lightly, but we’ve done it so we can keep people safe, can maintain the very best infection control measures, can make sure we deploy staff to where they’re needed most and can keep looking after people who need urgent and emergency care, including cancer treatment. We would urge anyone with health concerns to continue to come forward for help and treatment in the usual way, using their local emergency department only for serious illnesses or injuries. A reminder that NHS 111 can help if you have an urgent medical problem and aren’t sure what to do. Call 111 or visit 111.nhs.uk.
