Child Health Surveillance
A Baby Clinic is held on Tuesdays (12 noon - 1.30pm) by the doctor. You will be sent an appointment by child health to bring your baby for immunisation and child development examination. These will be done by Dr Saraf or the GP Registrar.
This is a midwife-led service and will be held at St James' Children’s Centre attached to St Thomas' School, Stevenson Drive, Sholver, Oldham. Please ring for an appointment on 0161 770 5300.
Pregnancy testing will also be available.
Paediatric Asthma Care
The practice clinical champions for Paediatric Asthma are Dr R Saraf and Karen Perrins (practice nurse).
All of our patients (under 19s) with asthma can expect:
- 6 monthly reviews on an individual basis (depending on level of control)
- Longer appointments for asthma reviews- Initial appointment can take 30-45 minutes and 6 monthly review 20-30 minutes.
- Inhaler technique assessment and training
- Pulse check
- Lifestyle questions
- A personalised asthma action plan
Don't forget to bring all of your asthma inhalers with you to your asthma review appointments!
Patients that do not attend a pre booked appointment will be followed up to ensure continuity of care.

MIND Health Support Service
The MIND health support service provided by the Oldham CCG is available to the practice. The MIND health support worker can see any patient at a face to face appointment which needs to be pre booked, the support worker can offer signposting to courses and talking therapies which can help patients to think more clearly, feel less stressed and cope with certain difficulties. For more information please ask a member of the reception staff for more information. The MIND support worker is here at the surgery on Thursday afternoons and patients can self refer or a referral made via the GP.
These services are offered by the practice and are accessed by making an appointment with the practice nurse/HCA. Health Promotion includes new Patient Checks, Holiday Vaccinations, Travel Advice, Cervical Cytology, Family Planning, Well Woman and Well Man Checks, Lifestyle, Diet and Exercise Advice and Flu/Pneumococcal Vaccination.
Patient whom have a learning disability are invited for an annual review, the appointment is for 30 minutes and if necessary an action plan is put in place. Please contact the surgery to book an appointment or contact us for any advice relating to Learning Disabilities
Chronic Disease Management Clinics
Chronic Disease Management is also a nurse-led service including asthma/COPD, diabetes and coronary heart disease/hypertension management, where the practice expects to see patients suffering from these diseases every six months to one year, at least once a year if the disease is well controlled, sooner if not.
New patients will be offered a new patient health check on registration. This will involve a brief family history, height and weight check and BP reading.
All patients over the age of 65 are entitled to an annual check by a healthcare professional. Patients not seen for three years are encouraged to make an appointment to be seen by the practice nurse.
Children Under 5
All patients under the age of 5 will be offered same day appointments either face to face or via telephone with a prescribing clinician, Mondays to Fridays
